Take these gags out our mouths Then turn 'em inside out So we can talk about the lost ground Just a few more ticks, a few more tricks And we’re fading out Single-filed ahead So they can forget How many of us are actually left One by one they figure it out So stop asking, What’s this all for? Take this breath by breath Everyone will ingest What was once ignored Swiftly silenced when too slow Your reward for taking a chance So we’ll ask, What’s this all for? Just keep digging deeper Find what we found before 'Cuz, fuck, man, That's one ugly fall And everyday we’ll patiently wait for something to change We’ll bite our tongues until the blood starts to run And everyday we’ll realize nothing will ever change We’ll bite our tongue until there’s nothing left to chew on

So you’ve been thinking About its end Though it’s just the start Yeah, it hasn't even begun yet I know where this goes I knew all along I always wondered How long it would last Just another reason It’s all in the past Fucked up from the start Well yeah, yeah, that’s the plan It’s gonna rot in your hand It's gonna rot in your hand

Energies all turn gray Delicately, writing sister, seed I thought I’d miss her Hundreds of lines But only a few I’ve ever seen "Old Spark" was just a story I once wrote to myself It wasn’t any good, it’s still on my shelf Ever read Juan Rulfo? His words - I don’t know - Emily stood on a bridge "They shine like gems,” she said Disappeared to AZ Desperate magic there Took a photo: just me in my room Burn and dodge, get that good light just right After a year abroad Could she be my light? I thought

Just let me bend your ear for a bit I got a bad idea and it’s getting worse Let’s get online and figure it out There’s this pretty thing I want to buy Click here to fuck live, no lie Be bigger, be better, no credit declined Save now on brand-named bliss It was a bad idea to scratch that itch No solutions save cutting the ties Don't eat, Don't sleep don’t blink Click here to fuck live, no lie Be bigger, be better, no credit declined Is it that critical What I want to be tonight?

Good to hear you made it home So nice to see you again Been a long time between And so much has changed More or less stayed the same Oceans rising but not fast enough New man’s same as the old man Request for your new planet radio Play it nice and loud Wear a different face You got out while you could Remember leaving here We all watched and waved Our folks were so very proud Request for your new planet radio Play it nice and loud Wear a different face 'Cuz so much has changed

Soft & Sweet 02:34
Can you feel the frequency between us, The way it twists and bends? Put your finger down my throat How deep does it go? We call this loyalty Just don’t put that name in your mouth It’s got a foul taste 'Cuz we seem to see through our red space All a little displaced Until the lights dim again

You said you wanted it Said you need it All the darkest things you refused Salvation! Salvation! Pushed forward to be counted Take a deep breath If you believe then you have it Disasters at its end All in a flash One last chance, you step right in Salvation! Salvation! One last swing 'til the next pyre Salvation! Salvation!

LBN 03:33
Perched on a stool Loaned out for the night Static blurs while eyes slowly turn Deepen the burn Tagged onto those slurred words It will be fun, believe me No other place to be No one gets in for free Ya think we’re connected? You ain’t missing much Some bright lights Torn open fishnets A casual promise Priced by the vibes Notations claiming these lips don't lie So pucker up Last kiss of the night What a social crime Lush lose the lust All in due time Hold on nice and tight

New Planet Radio, the third album from SE Pennsylvania’s Canid, arrives after a busy year-and-a-half for the band. In a way, NPR acts as their first true album, collecting songs written in the year prior like mementos. These captured ideas circle themes of end-stage capitalism, city landscapes and science-fiction. Musically, Canid draws from a pool of noise-rock, punk, grunge, psych, no wave and jazz band standards, refusing to stick to one approach. (Honestly, it’s hard to pin down.) Angular guitars and barbed vocals interplay against a tight rhythm section unafraid of funk.

NPR’s cover art – strikingly brought to life by S. Catoe – explores alternate histories, false memories and a not-so-far-flung future in which skyscrapers never mattered much.
